During a traumatic phone call whilst he was the on-call doctor for a severe reaction my wife had to a medication prescribed by Buffalo IVF, he repeatedly called her “honey” and told her to “just calm down.” He dismissed concerns throughout the call, treated us as if she were simply being hysterical, ultimately hanging up leaving my wife in tears. Rather than taking responsibility for the situation or offering support, Sullivan left us with the impression that he considered her unfit to be a mother, by requiring psychiatric sign-off for routine testing. He made our reproductive choice a matter of medical bureaucracy passing us around between other providers, effectively abandoning us. We initially considered continuing with other providers at Buffalo IVF, as other staff seemed competent and compassionate, and we requested to not work with him. On reflection, however, it is deeply troubling that a women’s health clinic would tolerate such sexist behaviour from its staff, let alone owner. Reproductive care demands empathy, respect, and professionalism. Sadly, our experience at Buffalo IVF showed the opposite. We strongly urge others to seek care where patients’ dignity is valued. Don’t waste your time here.A

Went ahead and sent it via mail and I TOLD them it was sent and on the way to them but because it wasn't there in timeframe they decided...they just went ahead and canceled it. Person on the phone was not personable about it. I was recommended this doctor by my Aunt who knows the doctor well and has been a nurse for 20+ years. Disappointed in how they work with clientele. I will potentially re-schedule but really this process could be so much better...S

She was thorough enough to send me for extra testing after I told her about painful & long periods, and discovered fibroids & endometriosis that I didn’t even know I had! If she hadn’t suggested the extra testing and been so thorough - I would never had known I had any issues. She was SO calm, reassuring and took all the time she could to answer any and all questions I had. I trusted her completely with my surgery and I’m so glad I did because she did an amazing job, even calling my wife as soon as it was finished to tell her exactly what they removed & let her know next steps. She is the first doctor ever to take my comments about my painful periods seriously and I’m SO grateful - now I can move forward on my fertility journey knowing I’ve addressed any and all issues that could have stood in the way. Thank YOU so much Dr. Bartels ❤️S

I am going through a divorce but still have insurance through my husband and probably will remain in his insurance for some time yet. Buffalo IVF refused to see me, stating I need PROOF I'm DIVORCED. Furthermore, I said what if he was aware I'm looking to conceive, and we wanted to pick a "donor". Staff advised I can not pick my sperm donor and only could I pick one of their donors. To me that's absolutely insane. Honestly I'm not even mad about appointment being cancelled. This place is a JOKE!L

I called to cancel my consult with Buffalo IVF seeing as the appointment would no longer be needed. On 9/26/2023, at 14 weeks our pregnancy ended due to chromosomal issues and a total heart defect. When I called to schedule a consult with buffalo ivf on Thursday 10/12/23, I was told that I have exceeded their cancellation policy and they would not see me. (I had a cancellation in 2017 and another when I found out I was pregnant with my daughter). Buffalo ivf reached out via social media to friends advising that if i call on Monday 10/16/23, that they would rectify the situation. Well i called on Monday and they said they spoke to the drs and they are standing by the decision to not see me. I am in complete and utter shock with the way they are treating us after knowing that we just went through the worst times in our lives. Being their specialty, you would think they would be more sensitive and empathetic. I don’t understand how 1. I am being treated the same as someone that no shows/just cancels for the hell of it, and 2. What did they expect of me? To show up to an infertility appointment when I am pregnant? Make it make sense. A modification needs to be made to their cancellation policy because this is just heartless and cruel.K

I usually cringe when getting my blood drawn but actually looked forward to seeing the tech each time! They successfully retrieved over 5 eggs each for my wife and I this past summer/fall. Unfortunately, they recently stopped accepting our insurance. We are so sad that we couldn't continue our journey with them, but will continue to highly recommend their services.R

I had surgery with him to confirm it, and I also had the next 2 surgeries with him as endometriosis grows back over time. Each surgery went amazing, and he discussed everything they found and what they did at each post-op appt. I am happy to continue working with him on the next step in my life of having a baby. If I could give this company zero stars I would. They are more worried about filling their pockets. I went to this facility for a tubal reversal. They were pushy from the very…If I could give this company zero stars I would. They are more worried about filling their pockets. I went to this facility for a tubal reversal. They were pushy from the very beginning regarding IVF cycles. My husband has fertility issues according to his analysis. I asked for a second analysis and was told no. From the very beginning we begged this facility to give us genetic testing. We were told no until there was recurrent loss. While on IV medications I was given too much. I don't have fertility issues, but a tubal ligation. The medication levels were too high in my system. I was instructed to take my trigger shot. I developed OHSS which I did not even know was a possibility. Due to this syndrome I could not do a fresh transfer and had to freeze the embryos. They refused to test the fresh embryos for genetics stating it was not necessary. After my first FET I was pregnant. The first sono I was told there was no yolk sack. I was told it happens. The next sono I was told the baby was gone. I had to take Cytotec to remove the pregnancy. The second transfer we were pregnant. I was concerned as the HCG numbers seemed low. I was ignored and told to stop worrying. Two days later I was having a miscarriage and the numbers crashed. There was absolutely no clarification. They had no idea where the pregnancy was and told me it could be tubal. For weeks I had to come in every other day to monitor HCG number. I was told to monitor symptoms as a tube bursting could be life threatening. My OBGYN told me this was blighted ovum. The last transfer was the worst. After they denied requests for genetic testing prior we had to beg for a consult with the doctor. He suggested genetic testing. We had asked for this right along to be proactive, and now that we had only one egg left what was the point? Testing the egg frozen could destroy it. I became pregnant again. At sono I was told there was; yolk sack, fetal pole, and blood flow. Also “there is a beautiful baby with a beautiful heartbeat.” We came back in a week. The tech was silent. I kept asking if something was wrong no response. Finally she said no heatbeat. Another NP instead of a doctor came in and stated that there was a heartbeat. They kept telling us the baby had not grown in a week but couldn't be certain. I called and asked for clarification. I was told sometimes these small babies are “stinkers” and hide in the corner. There was cardiac activity but they did not know if it was the baby or myself. They told me not to worry. I called my OBGYN for help, a second opinion. I was seen next day. I was completely blindsided. They had a much more relevant machine and showed me that the baby was only measuring 5 weeks and that there were no structures as I was told the day prior. The doctor told me I needed to make a decision, D&C or Cytotec. I had been lied to and misled this whole time. I called the doctor the next day. It took multiple phone calls in which we were hung up on, and a total of 4 hours to get the doctor. I spoke with Adam Griffin. He was condescending and did not show any empathy. He stated that maybe the OBGYN's machine was not as good as theirs. When I told him the doctor was concerned for my health and wanted to pursue treatment he had the nerve to say to me “most parents would want to give it an extra week to see what happens.” My baby was gone and miscarriage survivors often blame themselves for their bodies not doing what they need to, and he had the nerve to do that. He stated that sometimes women don't have sonograms for 12 weeks and their babies die at 5 and they carry them around and its okay. He even went as far as to tell my doctor that he knew we really wanted the baby so they were going to let it ride for another week to the next sono. I advise anyone seeking fertility treatments to stay away from this place, and if you value your life, health, and sanity this is certainly not the place for you.S

Out of respect for their profession, and for my own privacy, I will just say that you should read the other negative reviews and think twice before working with an office that uses paper systems from the 1970s.S

I have been going to doctors my whole life and I have NEVER experienced this level of care. I needed a prior auth for an MRI and their office submitted it the same day. They sent me my benefit package within 2 days of starting my care there. Everyone has been amazing.M

Dr. Sullivan and his team worked with us to make sure that during our short visit we were able to do a round of ivf. Dr. Sullivam was kind enough to do a phone consultation with us and his nurses were kind and attentive. They also always returned calls the same day. The office if efficient and quick. I was able to do office visits, ultrasounds and blood work in office without having to go somewhere else. We were not successful in our first round, but I believe had I opted to do genetic testing before the transfer, we would have been successful. The doctor has sat down with us on several occasions to discuss our options and has been patient and answered all our questions every time. He's given us options that we had not considered ourselves and he's worked with our local doctor to accommodate us. I am grateful for Buffalo ivf and their staff. Highly recommend Dr. Sullivan as well!M

We received a bill for maybe $300.00 for some lab result. I was calling monthly or bi weekly and making $25.00 to $50.00 payments. While I'd be making these payments I would get berated on when I was going to make more payments. And when does my husband get paid so we can make more payments. Are you kidding me? 1st off I work in billing and a little sympathy can go along way. 2nd this is not the only Dr. bill people have to pay. And further more really? On a $300.00 bill. Maybe try calling some of your pts that are in collections with you for $1000's. I would dread calling to make a payment cause I didn't want to get harassed.
When I first started with Buffalo IVF in 2013, I LOVED them. I was also very lucky to become pregnant unmedicated with my very first IUI. However, my experience trying to conceive…When I first started with Buffalo IVF in 2013, I LOVED them. I was also very lucky to become pregnant unmedicated with my very first IUI. However, my experience trying to conceive my second child was a much different experience. After 10+ IUI's (unmedicated as well as medicated cycles--Femara, Clomid, Injectables...you name it), 2 unsuccessful IVF attempts (the first IVF was canceled due to poor response. The 2nd IVF cycle made it to egg retrieval, but not to transfer -different protocol gave us 11 eggs, 8 which fertilized, NONE that made it to transfer), we were devastated. The only reason I had a laparoscopy done (9 months ago) is not because they suggested it, but rather, because I brought it up. They ended up finding Endometriosis. They said since it was a gynecological procedure, my insurance would cover it... but, they billed it as infertility-related, so I received a $25,000 bill. They also do not do blood monitoring for the IUI's as they do with IVF, which is think is awful. I ovulated before IUI day in July, even though they said I wouldn't because I was using Ovidrel. Before this last IVF (October 2017), they finally diagnosed me with Hypothyroidism, which I think should have been tested a long time ago. They have only checked my AMH level TWICE, which I also believe is a mistake. The nurses handle all of the IUI situations, and the doctors are very rarely involved (not ok!)...Here is the kicker... my husband and I had an appointment with one of the doctors yesterday (I won't bash him publicly, because I do think he is a nice guy) and I had to ask him the same question THREE times, before getting an answer (which was a crappy one at best). I asked him why a doctor did not perform my baseline ultrasound for my first IVF (the doctor is supposed to, but it was a "floating nurse" because I remember that appointment very well).. and his answer (remember, after asking him three times) was, "I don't know". I think he was completely caught off guard (which is why I wanted to meet with him instead of asking him over the phone). Saturday, October 21st we were supposed to have our transfer. The doctor called and said that none of our embryo's made it. Maybe that's not their fault, but could a 3-day transfer have helped? Maybe not... but in hindsight... knowing what I know now, I know very well that all along they are not very thorough with their testing and monitoring. If there had been a lab error, I would never know, because of liability reasons. After hearing the news that none of the embryo's made it, the doctor said he would talk to the embryologist Monday and see what may have gone wrong, and said that he'd be back in touch. We waited all week for a phone call (somebody in their position should know how time sensitive this is, especially to the patients!)... but Friday I had my husband call the office because they hadn't called back. None of the doctor's were available to talk, but the nurse offered an appointment. It gets better (worse, actually). I asked for copies of my medical records and the office manager called me a few minutes ago to tell me that the records were in the front office for me to pick up. I asked her what the charge would be and she said it was a courtesy (that was nice). She also said, "Dr. (so and so) told me to let you know that HE was the one that did that baseline ultrasound back in 2016". I didn't have much of a response, since, I know he didn't, and he had a completely different reaction yesterday when we spoke). While my experience did not end well, I will say that MOST of the staff, nurses and doctor's there are very nice.... I just think the office is completely unorganized and I think that they are overwhelmed and need to hire more doctor's, Judy Gibson and Jennifer Baran are awesome! Just know that if you consider Buffalo IVF, to ask TONS of questions, SELF-ADVOCATE (trust me, you will need to, or they'll have you running around in circles!), keep great records. Good luck to anybody going through such a stressful journey.L

For the most part you never see a Dr, its all done with the nurses. It felt like a revolving door of patients, but not successful. I left 3 messages to check my blood work and confirm plans for my next cycle. All 3 calls went unreturned. I have since started at another facility which is inviting and nurturing. Buffalo IVF is far from either of those 2 words.E

Then when we went to leave Michelle at the front desk informed us they do not work with our insurance and that we had to pay cash. What?! Obviously we were confused, why we weren't told beforehand, when there was not explanation or at the least an apology for this sudden discovery. No we just received a demeaning attitude and blame. Like it was our fault they didn't let us know before hand. Michelle was extremely rude and anything we asked or tried to say was met with a blank stare from her. She ruined our experience! I paid the 400 and left. Sadly we will never go back.V

We have encountered everything from receiving someone else's intake forms (ours then went to her) to staff walking into the wrong exam room (twice) and long waits for scheduled time appointments. Twice we were taken over an hour late for IUI with a 36 hour trigger. Every time you call it's a different person, and the answers seem to vary from person to person. When they called for my IVF consult, the nurse asked if I was in a femera cycle (that was 3 cycles ago) and if I'd ever done insemination (5 and, um, she called me! Why didn't she know that?). We have told our main doctor our concerns/experiences, as well as another we saw, but no one seems too troubled by it. It has made the process even more stressful.I
