I first underwent three IUI procedures under his care, all of which were unsuccessful. After that, I moved on to IVF. Unfortunately, my IVF experience was very disappointing. At one point, I was asked to take medication to delay my period because the doctor was unavailable to start the treatment cycle at that time. This made me feel that my treatment was being scheduled around the doctor’s availability rather than my medical needs. Dr. Traub recommended genetic testing of the embryos, despite my being under 35 years old and having no known risk factors that would make the testing necessary. I was told that testing the embryos would increase my chances of a successful pregnancy. The first IVF cycle was unsuccessful. Before my second IVF cycle, I expressed that I did not want to proceed with embryo genetic testing again. However, the doctor strongly insisted that I do it and told me that without the testing, I could have a baby with genetic issues. I asked whether there were other ways to check for genetic concerns later in pregnancy, but I was told there were not. What made this especially upsetting was that this conversation took place right before my egg retrieval procedure, causing me significant emotional distress at a very vulnerable moment. I ultimately agreed to the genetic testing, but the second IVF cycle was also unsuccessful. When I tried to discuss the results and next steps with the doctor by phone, he refused and required me to schedule an office visit. During that visit, I was simply told that it was “bad luck.” I was then encouraged to continue IVF treatments or consider using a donor egg, which was not something I was ready or willing to pursue. Overall, this experience was emotionally exhausting. I spent two years trusting this doctor and following his recommendations, only to leave feeling discouraged and unsupported. After seeking care from another doctor, I became pregnant on my very first IUI cycle.This was one of the most traumatic and damaging medical experiences I’ve had. I went in specifically to address a C-section scar defect, but it was dismissed without even being properly evaluated, and I was pushed into multiple embryo transfers instead. Every transfer ended in miscarriage-outcomes I strongly believe were tied to the untreated issue I originally came in for. My concerns were repeatedly ignored, no meaningful investigation was done, and I was encouraged to continue with emotionally and physically exhausting cycles. This experience cost me years of my life, my insurance coverage, and my well-being. I later sought another opinion, and the defect was identified almost immediately on ultrasound. In the moment it felt like the weight of the world was on our shoulder but before we knew it, we met his amazing team & had a plan of action. We started with many test and being sure where the issues were coming from. Dr. Traub was sure to review all my pervious medical records and make sure every t was crossed on them. Once we truly got into the process, nurse Sally was phenomenal and beyond compassionate to all she came across. She is and was a voice of reason in many moments of unsurety. Katilyn the Phelbotomy technician made every early morning blood draw so worth all the stabs and waiting for numbers. There is always a friendly face waiting for you at the front desk and a helpful person on the other end of your phone call. I couldn’t be more thankful to say today that I have a beautiful baby girl thanks to this amazing team who held my hand during my darkest days. If I could give them more stars I would. At one point I needed surgery and I don’t know what he did inside my uterus but he said he cleared out my endo and my tumor I had but after I left him under a year from my first surgery I needed another one and my new doctor who is amazing said and I quote “ your uterus was a disaster, I don’t know what happened in your last surgery but it was a mess and your last miscarriage (which was a transfer with Traub) the baby never stood a chance in there “ he said there was endo and a small piece of a tumor in there. I cried for so long because it was my only girl I had. When I had to go in to confirm I had a miscarriage with him it was the beginning of Covid but it was clear from my blood work I lost the baby he didn’t allow my husband in with me and on top of that, as I am freaking out so upset waiting for him to come in the room, my husband who’s so upset waiting outside in the parking lot sees me taken his sweet time from the chicken place back to his office while I am waiting for him in a room ! NO BEDSIDE MANOR AT ALL and he was nasty half the time. I left his office and never returned back and I didn’t even hear from him to see how I was until a year later and he only spoke to me because his office owed me a retest on one of my embryos and he had to tell me the results, which in that convo he digs in that I lost my only girl embryo that I had. ! All round the worst experience of my life I should have left his office a long time before I did and a few people told me to too but I didn’t listen . Nurses Sally, Karen, and Brenda are attentive, kind, and INCREDIBLY responsive. They respond quickly, explain things patiently, and genuinely make you feel cared for during what can be an emotional process. The front desk team is welcoming and efficient, and the phlebotomy staff and ultrasound technicians are gentle, professional, and caring. IVF can be overwhelming, but this entire team makes you feel supported every step of the way. Each time they said they would call back later with test results THEY ACTUALLY CALLED! Next is Cynthia … the literal BEST person to draw your blood. She never even made me feel the needle go in / never any bruising whatsoever. I would walk in and always ask for her if she was available because SHE IS AWESOME. Of course, last but not least Dr Knoch … he is the perfect doctor for someone like me with high anxiety and multiple miscarriages. He does not sugar coat anything and tells you things STRAIGHT!! He has the utmost professionalism and expertise going over multiple options for me and explaining pros and cons for each. He was always accessible — always able to see me with an appointment and he saved me from a biopsy my previous OB recommended but was clearly not needed (Thanks Dr Knoch ;)) Dr Knoch and his staff kept me monitored on a weekly basis and at the end of the day — he got the job done for me and I am eternally grateful. I’m sharing my experience in hopes of saving someone else from the frustration, emotional toll, and wasted time I went through. I initially went to Dr. Knockenhauer to investigate why I had experienced two miscarriages after having my first child naturally, without complications. At our first consultation, he laid out a clear 10-step plan — starting with bloodwork and ending with IVF as a last resort. It sounded thorough and gave me hope. However, after just steps 1, 2, and 3 (including an HSG), he saw that I had GHI insurance — and suddenly, he jumped straight to IVF. Despite not yet identifying the cause of my miscarriages, he assured me that IVF would reduce my chances of miscarriage by 10%. I trusted his recommendation, assuming he had my best interests in mind. I underwent two egg retrievals and an ultimately failed IVF transfer. Only after that failure did he test me for endometritis — something that was step 4 on his original plan. The condition turned out to be the likely cause of both my miscarriages and the failed IVF transfer. I had already endured six months of invasive procedures, emotional distress, and unnecessary treatments that could have been avoided if he had simply followed the protocol he originally outlined. It felt like once my insurance was revealed, the priority shifted from proper diagnosis to profitability. Additionally, the office is run like a factory. Multiple patients are booked for the same time slots, so you’re often waiting over an hour. The nurses rush through instructions for IVF medications so quickly that there’s no time to ask questions or get clarity — and considering how complex and sensitive these medications are, that’s unacceptable. In the end, I switched clinics and got pregnant naturally with the help of a doctor who actually listened and cared. I was even told I never needed IVF in the first place. This was one of the worst medical experiences I’ve ever had. I strongly encourage others to seek care elsewhere — from a provider who is committed to truly understanding your case and not just jumping to expensive procedures.Dr. Traub was beyond amazing! Immediately I could tell how highly experienced and educated he is in his specialty. We talked about a realistic plan of action which I appreciated a lot! His office is also filled with the most patient and nicest staff. I am so thankful that I came to island reproductive and most especially Dr. Traub because he made our dreams come true in finally becoming parents. I have been to other doctors before and nothing compares to the care I was given from Dr. Traub. When we became pregnant I was literally crying because I didn’t want to not be his patient anymore. It’s very hard to find a doctor you can really trust! As I look at my beautiful baby boy I’m reminded that he is here because of Dr. Traub and I will forever be grateful!

I…Unfortunately after 5 cycles, I did not have success here with either doctors. During initial testing prior to ivf, my bloodwork I was told to send to reception was “lost”. I should’ve known from that moment to leave. Dr Knockenhauer did get me my 1 and only euploid, however it failed to implant. After my first cycle, he asked if I was ready for donor sperm, which I thought was rushed (yes we have severe MFI). But to come to that conclusion after 1 cycle without other interventions first is concerning. Switched to Dr Traub for my 4th and 5th cycles. He asked why I transferred my 1 euploid 5 days post retrieval. Why? Because your partner allowed it and said he was confident to do it! While he got many blasts in my 4th cycle, all 7 were aneuploid. It shifted from being severe mfi to egg quality in his opinion. He does not believe in any supplements or experimental treatments to enhance fertility. He did not want to address the mfi except with picsi and did not encourage us to see a urologist. His words: “A urologist is not going to help”. Did not mention a TESE, supplements, lifestyle changes, nothing for my husband. Turns out my husband had severe dna fragmentation (another test Traub felt was useless), pointing to a severe sperm issue; NOT an egg quality issue. I used too many cycles at this clinic with NOTHING to show for it all - ZERO embryos, nothing to even transfer to a new clinic. Also, they push PGT testing. Finance is lacking in the communication department. It is hard to get a hold of somebody to answer questions. It took over 2 weeks for them to get in touch with my insurance company to tell them the last FET cycle with Island failed so that I could start a new cycle at my new clinic (mind you, the cycle at Island was in November 2024, and my new cycle was supposed to start in JULY 2025- why wasn't this done in a timely manner? 8 months!). I am STILL waiting for a $240 credit from them; they are claiming the cycle from November hasn’t been finalized so they are holding it hostage; but it was finalized on 6/25/25 (due to me calling to try to start the new cycle). I’m not sure if she’s still there, but the nurse Katie is very condescending. There are other lovely ones though. Giving 2 stars only because Dr Traub does answer emails in a timely manner and Jackie at reception is very nice. In addition, they sent blood to a lab that was out of network, which should have been covered under the surprise bill, but they failed to to attach that the blood was ordered from them. It's over 10 months, and has been a huge headache with the insurance and the lab to get it paid. We have since moved on to another IVF clinic, as this one never follows up, doesn't document things correctly, unsanitary environment for procedures, and caused a 10+ month long headache with our insurance company that still is not resolved yet. They explain each next step and pick up the phone for any and every question, especially when it came to medicine/shot questions. Erika in the Clove Road office made 6:30 am blood draws quick and easy along with every single sono tech who make it quick and painless. Honestly we held off on seeking professional consultation for infertility due to my health issues and all the horror stories that we’ve heard. We were at the point that if results came back too invasive then we would take some time to heal and possibly adopt in the future. After some research, we reached out to Dr. Traub. We figured it wouldn’t hurt to go to the first visit. From our first consultation we could tell Dr. Traub was genuine, kindhearted, and authentic. We truly loved his honesty and putting things into detailed perspective. In September 2021 we had all necessary check ups, bloodwork, and tests for both my husband and I; we spoke about our potential options. Late November 2021, we had our 3rd failed IUI. We then had the choice of taking a break, another IUI, or our first round of IVF. After much thought, we decided to do our first round of IVF with complete hesitancy. Luckily, Dr. Traub and his staff/team are absolutely amazing! Any questions or concerns they were there to respond with care (even over the phone or through email). The training on how to administer shots was very helpful as well. Late January 2022 eggs and sperm were retrieved. After all testing only 1 embryo was considered viable. With this emotional rollercoaster, my husband and I agreed in taking a fertility break after this round. March 1st embryo was finally transferred. Staff and Traub informed me of some success stories of only needing one great embryo, but mentally at that time I was preparing for the worst. With great patience, love and science my one embryo stuck! I’m currently starting my 5th month of being pregnant. We are still over the moon! All’s healthy and well! I know every person’s story is different, and I remember reading billions of reviews (being skeptical). My only suggestion is do everything at your own pace, if you have questions then ask, and don’t hesitate to at least make that first visit.
