Unfortunately, she was not open to any broader discussion or alternative viewpoints. I am currently seeking a second opinion from other fertility specialists, and this experience confirmed that I would not feel comfortable moving forward with her care. The delivery felt dismissive and outdated, and the overall interaction lacked the level of empathy and communication one would expect in such a sensitive and personal area of medicine. I cannot recommend this provider based on my experience. Patients deserve to feel heard, respected, and supported, especially when navigating something as important as family planning. The Experience and communication from front desk all the way through to the doctor is one of the worst experiences we’ve been through. And have had to work with a specialist for all of our children. We previously worked with TRM while living in Chatt and it was phenomenal. The only thing that TFI had made abundantly clear is that the men are not their patients, and it is felt without question. The next day I hadn’t filled out the forms because the page wouldn’t load properly and I was in the middle of having an active miscarriage. They called me and emailed me twice a day. I explained to them I would get to them soon and that I was in the middle of miscarrying. 4 days after the initial call and after blowing my phone up constantly they called me at 7 am Monday morning letting me know my appointment was cancelled. This is very clearly a money hungry company, lacking compassion and desperate to get people in. I’ve never been called multiple times over and over by a company claiming to want to help women. My apologies for not worrying about forms not due for 3 months while in the middle of losing my baby. After reading the reviews here it seems lots of people talk about how insensitive this place is and how the are money hungry. I haven’t even had the consult yet and this is how they act. After being dismissed by other doctors about my pain and infertility, I couldn't shake the feeling that something was going on with me. I was told "well you can go to TFI if you really want"... and I did. I started my journey with Dr. Colleen Miller in 2023, where she immediately welcomed me and listened to my concerns. After my first ultrasound, she was alarmed by the things my other doctors were ignoring, and strongly encouraged me to have a laparoscopic surgery before moving forward with any sort of fertility intervention. In November 2023, because of that surgery, I was diagnosed with Stage 4 endometriosis. I really owe this diagnosis to her and her vigilance to find the root of the problem. After that, I took some time away from fertility intervention, and even explored another cheaper clinic. I will say, I wish I had not wasted my time with the other clinic, and I wish I had just gone to TFI for fertility intervention from the start. As soon as I was ready (early in 2025) Dr. Miller had a full plan laid out for me. She understood the need to move forward quickly due to the severity of my endometriosis, and I began IVF pretty much immediately. Every meeting I left with her, I felt relieved and like the team truly knew what they were doing. Nurses and doctors were both quick to respond to all of my questions ( i had a lot lol), and I even would receive calls from the doctors with updates. I finally felt as though I had a solid team behind me, and that took a huge load off of my husband and my shoulders. The process is honestly really hard, but having the amazing team behind me made it so much easier. Dr. Miller ended up leaving TFI before my transfer cycles began, but I was not concerned about my care lacking once she left. Dr. Montville immediately stepped in for my transfer cycles and I am happy to say that now I am 19 weeks pregnant with twins! I was required to complete a “fertility counseling” session that was presented as educational but was overpriced and felt prodding. After a single 90-minute session, deeply personal trauma was summarized and reported without transparency, followed by being told the provider was not comfortable recommending IVF unless I obtained a formal mental health approval. Opening up past trauma and then placing additional barriers to care felt actively harmful. People pursuing IVF are often in an extremely vulnerable place, and this process lacked compassion. As someone who has managed my own mental health care for many years and worked professionally in the behavioral health field for 12 years, it feels wrong to have to have a provider recommend fertility treatment which is a personal decision. I did a ton of research on TN Fertility Institute before making the first phone call for a consultation and was impressed by their medical staff and information available from their website. From the first phone call, I knew I had found the right place. I was assigned to Dr. Montville and was initially super nervous about starting this process. During our consultation, he answered all my questions and walked me through my options making me feel comfortable. We decided to go the IVF route and throughout the entire process from start to finish I felt welcomed, supported and heard. Dr. Montville is kind, knowledgeable and never made me feel like a number. My nurse Kelly was always available via the patient portal for questions or updates to my treatment plan, even answering after clinic hours. Going through IVF is overwhelming and puts you through some really emotional and physically challenging situations.
