The Patriot Conceptions team recently returned from Atlanta, Georgia, where we had the incredible privilege of sponsoring and participating in the 2026 SEEDS (Society for Ethics in Egg Donation and Surrogacy) Spring Conference.

As an organization dedicated to the highest standards of care in third-party reproduction, attending SEEDS has been one of the highlights of our year. This year’s conference at the Hyatt Regency Atlanta was particularly special as the industry gathered to confront the modern legal, emotional, and technological landscapes shaping the future of family building.

Leading the Conversation: The Future of Surrogacy Operations: AI, Automation, and Real-Time Matching

One of our proudest moments at this year's conference was hosting our own roundtable discussion, titled "The Future of Surrogacy Operations: AI, Automation, and Real-Time Matching."

Our session provided an open, collaborative forum for industry professionals to share how they are leveraging emerging tech to optimize their day-to-day operations. The conversation perfectly complemented the Friday afternoon headline session, "How Artificial Intelligence Can Help/Hurt Our Field." Together with fellow agencies, legal experts, and clinicians, we explored:

Key Takeaways from the SEEDS 2026 Sessions

The broader conference program offered masterclass-level insights into the most pressing issues facing our industry. A few of the pivotal themes our team brought back include:

1. Navigating Legal Gray Zones & Advocacy

With assisted reproductive technology (ART) evolving faster than legislation, sessions like "Who Owns the Embryos?" shed light on the complex legal boundaries families face today. We also joined critical strategy discussions on "Stopping the Surge: Collaborating to Combat Harmful State Legislation," reinforcing the collective need for agency advocacy to protect reproductive freedom and access to IVF nationwide.

2. Centering the "Ethics of Care"

A beautiful recurring theme this year was protecting the human beings at the heart of these journeys. Panelists dove deep into “The Ethics of Care: Navigating Power Imbalances Between Surrogates and Intended Parents,” emphasizing clear boundaries, mutual respect, and proper psychological evaluation models.

3. Combatting Compassion Fatigue

Because this work is so emotionally intense, a standout track focused on “How to Protect Yourself From Emotional Burnout & Compassionate Fatigue.” Learning strategies to manage this emotional weight ensures our coordinators can continue providing steady, empathetic guidance to our clients without sacrificing their own well-being.

Reconnecting with Industry Pioneers

A conference is only as strong as its community, and we walked away feeling incredibly inspired by the brilliant minds we met. We were absolutely thrilled to connect, exchange ideas, and share laughs with some wonderful organizations, including:

...alongside so many other incredible agencies, legal partners, and mental health professionals who are pushing this industry to be safer, fairer, and more transparent every single day.

Looking Ahead: The innovations and ethical frameworks discussed in Atlanta will directly influence how we care for our community moving forward. Thank you to the SEEDS board, the organizers, and everyone who stopped by our roundtable. Let’s keep building beautiful families, ethically and innovatively!
